What It Means To Be An Advocate

You probably know the scenario: You go to the doctor and he says you have to take this drug and here’s your prescription. You leave the office without knowing what you’ll be taking, what the drug’s side effects are, and what the progression of your illness is. Sound familiar? Now imagine there is a way that you can educate yourself about your body and your health. Then when you go back to the doctor you can ask the right questions. For instance you’ve been told you have diabetes. The doctor may tell you it’s inherited and there’s not much you can do but take certain drugs and maybe exercise and watch what you eat. There is so much more to know about diabetes, natural solutions that your medical doctor may not have learned in medical school. Be an advocate for yourself and find out how to choose a doctor willing to listen and to help.
